4efte vs. 4age

hey guys, later on i would like a more powerful engine fo my cel. what would u guys prefer. i like the 160hp from the 4AGE, but everyone always talks about the 4EFTE. which ones is more upgradeable and has the more potential for hp? I also know the 4AGE is a lil bit more expensive. thanks

depends on if you want to start with an all motor or boosted setup, 20 vavles will beat 4EFTE's in stock trim.

that is what i thought, but which one would u say will have the most potential for hp wit upgraded internals, a turbo, and a few other things. and the 4age is kinda pricey, i think i could push out more than the 4efte can, if they had the same upgrades. also, which one has more upgrade parts. i dont think i've seen to many sites with 4age and 4efte engine parts.

well if you wanna get technical, the 4AGE only has .3 liters on the 4E motor. You can incrase the displacement of the 4E to about 1495cc by modifying the stroke to say.... 82 mm. don't think theres much you can do to the bore though the cylender sleves are razor thin as is. 4AG's will make power, but after you open them up. 4E's will make power with bolt-ons and stay safe, but their max power on the factory guts is limited. It's the truth-saint-

just about anything besides the CT-9 turbo will get that engine abouve 200 hp. T3, T04, T03, T3/T4, 16G, CT26?, but you'll need more than a turbo.

What trim you lookin at. what A/R are you getting... I wouldnt waste my monet on anything less than a .48

now i cant say for sure, but... i think the 4age is difficult to turbo as due to the high compression ratio.. same deal with the new celica GTS.. on the other hand, on BYP's website, you can find what looks like an 80's tercel hachback hailed as "an Acura Integra GS-R Killer! This 1.3L boast 250 WHP at 20 lbs.. and that's on the stock block with minor upgrades" <- copy and paste. ^_^

also, the 4e-fte is a direct drop, whereas the 4age requires custom engine mounts, and you have to replace the front axle as it wasnt designed to handle 160hp. (this last statement was brought to you by a foggy memory of a post long ago, and the info therein may not be correct. ^_^)

of course, if im wrong anyone, please correct me so we can all learn from my ramblings. -bouncy-

Gimme a break

The BYP 4efte is doing over 300 at the fly on all stock internals, and it's doing it a hell of alot cheaper than this guys car. And with slicks the 4efte Tercel will prob. run 12's this guy hasn't cracked 12's yet with a 1.6. If you're looking at spending ALOT MORE MONEY , then yes...get the 4age but if you want to spend ALOT LESS MONEY for 12-13s then get the 4efte. 300hp is doable and you really don't need any more than that for a street car.

any links//// didn't think so....

How much is a 4EFTE pushing 300 HP installed in a Tercel? Let's do the math....
Full stock (145 HP) from BYP....2000
1.6 20 Valve 4AGE (160 HP)....The way i have priced it.....around 2500 (1000 Parts, 1500 install)
If you have a link for a Dynoed 4EFTE w/300 HP now is the time to show it.
Otherwise 1.6 4AGE 20 v has the MOST potential for power, dollar for dollar.
