Project Sneak Up

Greetings to all. Introducing project sneak up.

I have wanted to do a 4efte swap for a while but never really had the opportunity to do so until now.

I was originally going to document the swap on my website https://epbible.weebly.com , as a 4efte swap has been done several times before but what good is a project without advice from those who have done it before.

I also realize that no matter how many times it has been done before there is always something to learn.

My plans for the car to do the swap first keeping everything stock and make sure that every thing works properly before I start any mods.

I will try to update the thread as much as possible and link photos from my site as I realize that photos on forums tend to go dead if photobucket or other third party picture sharing sites are used.

Cheers

Got some new struts for the car last week.

Wanted something reasonable and was doing some research to see what was available when I came across the STAGG brand.

Seems they have been around not very long and got really bad reviews on other cars but I couldnt find anything on how they performed on the Tercel platform so I decided to give them a try.

Ill give my opinion on their performance one I put them on and run them for a month or so.

Greg (malibuguy) really liked those shocks / springs. Good luck with the car. Install is pretty straight forward. I can swap out pre-loaded shocks in under an hour on a lift.

Talk to trevor https://dsracecraft.com/ for the harness for the 4efte swap. He's still doing the harnesses.

Hey Thanks. I have been in dialogue with Trevor and hope to have him do the harness but at this time its a little bit out of my budget so im saving towards it. Yea swapping preloaded strut assembly isnt too difficult for me even without a lift. Thanks for the encouragement and more posts are to come.

So here is the engine. More info can be found on my site https://epbible.weebly.com/blog/project-sneak-up

I have a quick question for the more experienced folks out there, I have never seen a 4efte with that distributor is this truly a new gen distributor or did someone just resue the older gen 4e distributor?

I grabbed this intercooler the other day for the project. It was going for a reasonable price. I didnt do any calculations as to what dimensions would best suit the tercel but will try with it and see if it can work. Check out more pics at https://epbible.weebly.com/blog/keeping-it-cool

I figured as much about the distributor because in all my years of messing with those engines I have never seen a fte distributor like that. Thanks for the confirmation REVVA.

:lachen: about the intercooler. The plan is to either spray it black so it blends in with the bumper or keep it tucked behind the bumper as much as possible.

So this came in the mail this week.

I like the construction of the brace and should enhance handling in addition to the other braces I plan to add.

As usual check my website (https://epbible.weebly.com/blog/ultra-racing-front-upper-strut-brace) for more pics and info and stay tuned for the install.

You might want to dig online about painting it. I heard it reduces efficiency, thermal transfer capability, or whatever else...

Is it true :dunno: but something to look into...

The construction of the brace is of top quality. It seems very well made.

I tested the holes to make sure it would fit on the Tercel and it does only thing though the Tercel has three strut bolts but the brace only fits over two of them.

Im gonna install it tomorrow and throw some pics up, then drive it around for a week or two and then give my impression of it even though I doubt I will be able to feel major difference in the handling with just that one brace. Hoping to order the rest soon.

I have heard this too. I have seen reviews and even checked out a mighty car mods video where they did some real testing and they found the difference in painted and unpainted to be negligible. Im still not sure if Im gonna paint it yet or just get a new one thats painted from the factory. Well see.....

I've debated doing a stealth/small boost setup on my daily '97 when I get the turbo 5e car back up, i have a bunch of spare water to air cooling parts from my Cobalt days, and could run a recirculated WG and BOV to keep the car sounding a looking very stock outside, yet have 200hp.

Problem is, I LOVE the turbo car noises, and you aren't gonna beat anybody with a 200hp car anyway. So the daily will probably stay stock powerwise, while I spend my time trying to get closer to 300hp out of my Paseo.
