Which one?

I'm looking for advice on which way to go for suspension.
D2 RS coilovers, Tein lowering springs with KYB struts and shocks, Ksport RR coilovers or other suggestions?
This will be a summer daily driver and weekend autocross car.
I'm leaning to one more than the other two choices.
Thanks

I have had the KYB and springs and the ksport, I was happy with both. I am running the Ksports now, defiantly better than the KTB as far a handling but worse in the way of comfort.

I think you should opt for some sort of adjustable coilover.

I ran TRD progressive springs with KYB struts and shocks. Decent ride. I changed to TEIN Super Street coilovers with shorter springs. Handling is better, but the ride is worse.

Tein Super Street coilovers, Tein pillowball mounts, Whiteline swaybars 22MM(F) 20MM(R)
Prothane poly endlinks & mounts (F), Whiteline poly endlinks & mounts (R)
VVR poly control arm bushings, K&N drop-in, Dynomax Ultraflo, Gibson stainless tip
15x7 Axis Maglite with 195-50-15 Yokohama S.drive

How rough is the ride with coilovers?
I plan on having decent seats in the front.
I was leaning toward the ksports.

... before I started the engine swap another member and I put KYB GR2's into my 4th gen tercel - a considerable upgrade vs. stock.

With 15" and 50-series tires I found the combination of ride comfort and the improvement in handling amazing. I haven't tried coilovers so I can't talk to that.

But as a middle-aged dude with back issues, the KYB's were as firm as I'd want to go.

On mine, I have mine set pretty low, if not all the way down. They ride firm.

When I first put them on, with the taller springs, set at a mid height, I think they pry rode comparable to the TRD progressive springs with KYBs... :dunno:

Thanks, I think I'm going with the ksports. I found them for $815 shipped
Just to triple check, does the ksports work on gen 3?
Anyone, anyone, bueller...

I have the ksports on the 5th gen, I like them, can tune them to where they are not bad (mine are at 50%). I got used to them very quick, I notice a difference between my truck and the tercel, but I have low profile tires and they contribute to a sense of pile driving when you hit large bumps.

I tried kports on mine

Worst suspension ever. Now they might have upped their game since then. But they rode like garbage, and they were horrible on track too. Plus they hit the brake line brackets up front and I had to relocate them

Buy junk get junk :twocents:

I appreciate your 2 cents malibuguy. What are your recommendations? You're the first negative "review" of ksports I've heard of. The d2s were an option but I did read a few comment about leaking. The tein coilovers I have not been able to find. The BBC coilovers I have not heard or read of much on those.

Thanks

See my comment a few posts north. Ground controls on stagg struts. If you like driving your car and want excellent (better then stock I think) ride quality and good cornering behavior thats the ticket. Also do not dump it. I ended up about 1" lower then stock.

If you want to go real low and do not care about any of the above characteristics then pick Ksport, D2 or any other Chinese coilover

I went thru probably 6 or 7 differenct suspension combinations until I stumbled upon this magic combination and its not very expensive either.

Another option is Vogtland springs they were nice on KYBs. Probably would have well with Staggs too. But not enough spring rate for anything that turns with sticky tires on a race track

Thanks for elaborating malibuguy. Yes, I won't dump it. I don't want cheap Chinese made crap. I will look into the stagg struts and ground controls. I want great handling with some decent street tires too.
Thanks again.

On the Ground Control website the shock options are:
Koni
Bilstien
Kyb
Tokico
Msc
Ast
Jrz
Other
So I could ask for Stagg, but if not available, what's my second choice?
What about spring rates?
