4efte rev limiter

Hey tercelonline, i have a 4efte with a td04l on it. Im not sure if this is normal but the engine doesnt rev past 5600rpm or so. I thought it was just the tach being off but the emanage blue log said the same thing. Car is running great abd pulls hard. Not sure if it just loses power at that rpm but it feels more like a rev limiter? Thanks

No way it's supposed to be at that low of an rpm. Should be closer to 7k.

You're probably blowing out spark

Well i found the problem, ive been having ignition issues and started changing parts. Turned out to be the timing belt but the car is running now. So i just put the old ignitor on there and all is good. Glad its fixed because 5500rpm+ seems to be where all the actions at.

Ok im having another problem. Went to the track today and the car seems to be like a misfire hesitation at the top of 3rd and 4th gear. Any advice on what to check first? Im pulling 5 degree timing through emanage blue at 16 pounds and the afr sits around 10-10.5 at full boost. Would it being too rich cause this?

Misfire hesitation is usually spark blowout. What are your plug gaps? New dist cap/rotor/wires?

New cap and rotor, old wires and plugs. I'll check the spark gaps this weekend and report back. Thanks Joe

My turbo 5e car had spark blowout/misfires when I got it running better, I had changed plugs, turned out for me the rotor was badly worn and the cap wasn't so hot either. It only acted up at high rpms on 15+psi, but once I changed the tune up parts all was well.

Don't be afraid to close the plug gap down to .025 or so, this isn't the strongest ignition system to begin with, it needs a little help with high boost pressures.

It was the gaps, running with hesitation now. Also ended up pulling some fuel out and 3rd gear is pulling hard now. Thanks again
