So the GRM challenge was this past weekend, the tercel did pretty well 18th place if you dont count the exhibition cars. HERE ARE THE RESULTS
did not do so well in the drags. for some reason I was not getting full advance ignition timing.
great thing was the current SCCA FSP champ was there and I let him drive the car, he said the car has potential to be a front runner in the class.
goal for this year was to get it to the challenge and midpack(check!)
goal for next year is to midpack at SCCA Nationals and top 3 in autox at the GRM Challenge

TERCEL FSP

So I got megasquirt working and ran my tercel today at a local autocross event, the above video is my fastest run.
It still needs ignition tuning.

wheels are Konig Wideopens 15x8 +20mm offset
tires are 205/50 spec miata hoosiers(got them used with 5 heat cycles on them)
yes those are first gen paseo seats. I still have the stock seat belts also. its a 3 point harness mounted on the same bolts as the stock seat belts. 2 in the front then pass the harness through the hole in the seat and bolted to the upper bolt of the rear seat belt.

Any rubbing problems?
Did you roll the fenders?

Nope no rubbing, no rolling of fenders but with the spring rates Im running there isnt much travel even with the grip of the race slicks the outside suspension doesnt compress enough to rub.
also im running 2 degrees of camber in the front and I centered the rear axle after lowering the car, everything helps but I think the main reason I dont rub with such a wide wheel is my spring rates.
this weekends autox will be at a very bumpy lot so lets see how it does then.

those are some stiff spring rates...
from the pic, they look like they would surely rub, though...
nice setup...

thank you,
I still have to adjust the rear sway bar for the race tires, as you can see in the video link I posted the rear bar may be to stiff. the inside rear tire is lifting which is ok but its lifting to fast and equally coming down as fast unsettling the car in the process, think of it this way you are going from the grip of one tire in the rear to two tires to quickly cause the driver(me) to put in additional inputs. the driver with the least amount of inputs around the same course will be the faster driver.
