My understanding that there are no mods necessary but I will find out for sure and let everyone know. This is sc468nm's mod.

Looking at rockauto's pictures, it looks like the ports are in approximately the right place and orientation. They are the same size.

Okay got some stuff done today.

The clutch is in:

The Speedvision adjustable cam gear is here:

I mounted the Honda 1/2 width dual core radiator. Here's how I did it.

First I wanted to get rid of the stock welded on mount (drivers side), as I figured it would interfere with how I wanted to mount the radiator.

I used a drill to drill out the spot welds that I could get to, and a air chisel to get at the ones I couldn't.

My first placement of the radiator was too close to the downpipe.

I was limited on how far I could push it over by this chassis harness.

Here it is taken out.

I basically took this plastic formed conduit off and re-ran the harness thru the opening for the headlight. That gave me more room to push the radiator more towards the drivers side.

I went to the junkyard and got an assortment of Tercel/Paseo passenger side radiator mounts (the ones that bolt on), and some from like most Corolla's and Celica's IIRC. They are a slightly different configuration, and allows you to mount the radiator lower than with the Tercel/Paseo. I ended up using those to mount the Honda radiator. I mocked the 2 mounts up with vice grips and once I settled on a position I added some self tapping screws.

This got the radiator far enough to the drivers side that I had a decent amount of clearance to the downpipe. I would have liked more, but...

Here is the elevation view.

I still need to work on the top mount and get an electric slimline fan. The one I had was too big.

Now that I have this all mounted up I can start thinking about the intercooler.

Also I researched what is the highest factory Toyota alternator I could find. Looked at most 90's Corollas, Celica's, Camry's, Highlanders, Rav4's, Cressida's, MR2's, etc. The highest I could find was a 100A 92 MR2 w/ Power Steering built before 12/91 or 1/92. Those cars had an electrically driven PS pump, and I presume the extra amperage was used for that. I found that my 5efhe harness connector for the stock alternator would not work, but a 92 Paseo USDM 5efe plug will work. The power post is a little bigger in diameter than the stock 5efe harness eyelet, so I plan on drilling this out. Finally, one thing I found out is that the alternator input shaft where the pulley mounts is 17mm in diameter, whereas the stock 5e/4e/3e alternator input shaft is like 15.1mm. This would not normally be an issue, because you would just use the pulley that comes on the 92 MR2 alternator, but when I went to tried to install an aftermarket aluminum pulley, like an NST one for a 5efe, it doesnt' fit! So if you want an aftermarket alternator pulley for this 100A alternator, better find one for a 92 MR2, not a 5e/4e/3e!

So the only physical mod I needed to do was to sharpen the radius from the upper mounting ear to the body of the alternator. The stock radius caused the strap to not want to line up.

Here is my grinding action.

Now it mounts up nice and good.

A couple shots of the alignment. About a 1/16" offset from the water pump pulley.

Good alignment with the crank. Makes me think that the water pump is in a little bit, not the new alternator.

Belt temporarily installed.

I also got the oil pump primed by spinning it with a drill, then installed the timing belt, and the 315cc injectors.

Fair question...not sure if any of this justifies a 100A alternator, but I've added real HID's, LED tails (not sure if this is more or less than a the incandescents that were stock), and planning to go to coil pack ignition at some point (with the MSII).

I like that 100amp alternator mod...
Did you have to change out the plug on the back of it?

Also what Toyota did you get it from?
100A 92 MR2 w/ Power Steering built before 12/91 or 1/92

Is that the right one?

I believe the LED tails use less power as without the resistors they
flash rapidly as if the bulb was burn out?

Anyhow great WIP throttler, I dig all the pictures:thumbup:

leds use less power, i think HIDs too...

ive run a 1000wrms soundsystem off a stock auto tercel alternator for a while no real problems till the battery would drain at full blast... so you dont need the upgrade, i would even go with a smaller manual tercel alternator to save on weight and parasitic losses

what takes current is your ignition system and fuel pump but they dont take much i think the pump uses less than 10 amps so does the radiator fan, 5-10a at most
