if its down to running out of boost suddenly
is it possible its compressor surge
the turbo is pushing too much air for the engine to take in loses grip on the air and flows back resulting in a sudden loss of boost pressure and an
odd chattering sound
here is that to4b s trim turbo compressor map overlayed with demand lines for a 1.5 liter motor

you are pretty well to the left into surge land^^^
nowww here is what mulberrry just suggested you use

see how the demand lines are covered now

so you guys are thinking it's more the turbo then the valve springs???
i'd just like to make sure i have teh best solution for my problem before redoing everything...

id say weak wastegate or possibly exhaust restriction
how is the exhaust after the turbo and is the wastegate open to atmosphere
also
if you could please try to take more current photos
also you might want to pressure test your intake system
use a tire air valve on the end of a can of soup and attach that to the turbo piping and pressurize it and see where the air leaks out if any at all

weak wastegate could be possible considering it's a knock off one so maybe it's not of a good quality enough??? the exhaust is 3in electric dump
right off the turbo.... the wastegate is recirculated in the exhaust.... i'll try and pressurize the intake and take pics of the setup.... i'm going
away for the week so i'll do that next week.... thanks for the help...

i want a real turbo, wastegate, and blow off valve
most other stuff can be knockoff but those are the 3 i wont go knockoff on

pressure test?
and your turbo is too large
many people are making over 300 whp on smaller turbos
plus the turbo you have is an old antiquated design
there are a million choices in turbo that are better suited for this task
was it free?? found it in a dump truck?
ive seen an evo8 turbo make 300 whp easy (td05h 16g6 9.8T)
ive seen a GT35R make liek 340WHP
t3/t04E 57 trim made i think 290 at the wheels
i can think of a million cars making more horsepower than you with a turbo that is much much smaller
1. how much are you looking to make HP?
2. did you pressure test?
3. it looks like your wastegate gasket blew out in those pictures go check it
4. what size throttle body is that?
5. what size piping before the throttle body?
6. also what size is the pipe for your turbo manifold it looks enormous? 1.75"??

1- i'd like about 275 whp
2- no leak issue.... tested with everything connected and also tested the intake manifold seperatly...
3- must be just the pic.... no issue there...
4- throttle body is 75mm
5- 2.5 inch piping between intercooler and throttle body and 2 inches between turbo and intercooler
6- 1.75 OD with .125 wall thickness so 1.5 ID
and you must be mistaking my turbo size.... a t3/t04b s-trim is about the size of a t3 super 60..... nothing comparable to a gt35r. the t3/t04b
