Manual Boost Controller

Ok so I did some digging and I've decided to make my own Manual Boost Controller. Basically after i did the swap i was at 7psi and i wanted to up it to 11psi. So i found this link here http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.php
I went to it and although i might have done a couple things differently it still works great!! So here it is

Parts were basically same as in link, except i got one fitting with a 1/4" barbed fitting and the other is 3/16" so make sure you have some spare vac lines and such to make them hook up.

Basically just like in the link i put the check ball inside the female fitting and the spring in with the male fitting then just screw them together. Now i don't know what tension spring you might buy, but a good way to start is to get at least 1 thread to catch and try blowing in the side with the check ball. If you get air then try screwing it some more untill you cannot get any air through. If you got too much tension in there you'll have to cut the spring like in these pics

After doing that and installing it in the car it spiked up to like 15 psi then the ecu got smart and fuel cut each time it got to 12.5 or whatever. So i cut some more

and again i had to cut some more

finally it worked and worked well, no fuel cut and boost was basically right back at 7 psi. So afterwards i put some pipe threading tape on the male fitting reinstalled it then it up and down the street. Each time i made a pass i would get out, and tighten the thread just a little more and i would gain more boost. Doing this about 3-4 times i had the boost running at 11psi steady. Just enough to stay away from fuel cut, but plenty enough to have 4psi more fun!!
Here is a pic of what it looks like

And since the intake tube going to turbo is in the way here's the wastegate

I know its a bit hard to see, but i was working with a hot engine and an IPhone so you get what you get. But just put it where that little 4" hose goes from turbo to wastegate. MAKE SURE TO PUT THE CHECKBALL SIDE TOWARDS TURBO not that i did that backwards on accident or anything, but it won't work if you do.
:2thumbsup: Hope this post helps anybody looking to do the cheap man's way of modding because all of this cost me a whopping $7 from Ace Hardware!! :bananamac:

Thanks, simplicity is definately the word for it. Only 4 parts lol  I'm going to go back and probably change the male end fitting from a 3/16" barbed fitting to a 1/4" barbed fitting. Then i could just have one longer hose coming from the wastegate to the boost controller. For now though i like the ease of just disconnecting that plastic vac line in the middle and being able to quickly turn it. :deal:
