When i came to a sudden loss of boost last year, ahem, it was like going cold turkey. So I can say with confidence that i "currently" do not have any
addiction to hearing the beautiful, sensuous sound of the most wonderfully obnoxious BOV that Blitz could make........
So it shouldn't take too much restraint to hold back from boosting for the next tank n half of gas

500mi was soooooo 7mi ago. Time to play! Although i need to do some learnin more about the EMB. Not sure how the airflow map works. All i have ever
messed with is the injector map.
Also, i have a friend at work that says timing should retard 1 degree per pound of boost. Is this something i need to setup in the Ignition table?
Huge learning curve for me here.
I know i talk of wanting to get right into the boosting, but I am responsible enough (now) to at least learn what i'm doing first.

So kind of at a crossroads here. I found a small metal ring in my oil pan while investigating the tapping sound. The ring is part of the oil deflector
inside of my FRESHLY rebuilt turbo. How or why it popped off is beyond me.
So my thinking is this:
-I could say screw it and put my oil pan back on, and drive it as is and see what happens.
-I could take the turbo out, take it apart and replace the ring and forget about the tapping noise and see what happens.
-Or i could take the engine out. Break it down piece by piece. Completely go through everything piece by piece. What do you guys think?

I'd bring that turbo back to the rebuilder. If it's losing parts who knows what else is going on.

Yeah its a bump. I am unfortunately the "rebuilder" lol. But i did take my time very carefully when taking it apart and rebuilding the turbo. I even
had an instructional video.
But still happens i guess. I guess its giving me a reason to take the
whole motor out and go through it from bottom to top.
I hope that its not piston slap in the bore that i hear as far as the tapping noise. God forbid this bottom end when they bore'd it over was done
wrong. I don't know if there would be a solution at that point. Anybody know?
BTW, taking ideas on underhood paint schemes

So last night my buddy and I took the car out to do some street tuning. I've been running about 11-12lbs of boost for a while now. It runs pretty
strong. So we decide we are gonna see how much it can take.
He let me use his drag radials so we don't have to worry bout the tires breaking loose so easily. Found out that my clutch isn't strong enough to run
them. His BF's are just too damn sticky and big. Take it through the gears and at the top, you can hear it slipping.
So we go back (in the rain now) and swap back on my street tires. Now we decide to crank the boost up to 20psi. He also decided to do a little stress
test by sticking it in 4th gear and from 1k rpm to put the pedal down and load up the motor. Poof! WTF was that noise??
Don't worry, it was just a stupid intercooler pipe coupler. So we stop and fix it. We go out again, same thing. POOF So we stop at his house, now
there is loads of oil all over the top of the motor and that coupler is off again.
Not to worry, my dipstick had come out and was allowing oil to spew everywhere. Finally getting the coupler secured and the dipstick secured we hit
the highway and got some very nice pulls in after backing the boost down from what was about 23-24psi to 16-18psi.
Runs very nicely though, even with my very limited tuning abilities, lol
We did about a dozen runs through 4th gear till about 1am and called it quits for the night. On the way home i decided not to hit it hard anymore. I
may have leaned into 5th gear to about 10psi just to get around a car.
POOF........
god damnit

I am using tbolt clamps but we are thinking that my piping might not be perfectly lined up and when the motor is torquing that its pulling the pipes
away from each other. Remember I am the noon that put my piping where the windshield washer was.
