1st gen Paseo vs other brake caliper bracket

Just figured I'd share this. I took this picture a week ago when I replaced the front bearing on my Paseo. The left bracket is a 92-95 Paseo bracket and right is the 91+ Tercel & 96+ Paseo bracket.

Wonder Why they went back to a smaller size? Too much brake force? I noticed they lock up easier than the smaller brackets and rotor.

^^^
prolly ease of manufacture... if your factory has to make a wide variety of parts, retooling the equipment takes time, & that costs $$... this is why there are so many compatible parts between el31, el43, el53/54 & ep82/91 chassis...
i'd be willing to bet that all these cars were made at the same factory...
also, a lot of the 2nd gen paseos & 5th gen tercels had ABS, which improved braking... so upgrading size was not needed...
i also suspect toyota originally had greater plans for the 1st gen paseos... the 5efhe motor hints that they wanted to compete with honda's b16's, but economic trouble in japan in the '90s caused them to scale back & focus more on more popular cars like the corolla/camry that they could produce for higher profits...
it paid off, & now they are nearly #1 in auto sales in the USA...

& imo, the scion line of cars arrived 10 years too late... they coulda kicked the civic-si/integra/rsx market...

regardless, it's nice being the underdogs... (underhawks?)

nothing is true, everything is permissible...

I know this is old but to clarify there is to be no cutting of the brackets at all.

Just get a bigger wheel.
